Get Your Kids Moving

Obesity levels are at an all time high around the world, so it’s totally understandable that, as a parent, you want your kids to not become a statistic. A recent study from Oregon State University shows that the more time you spend with your kids, chances are the more active they are.

The study examined over 200 families, each with at least one child between the ages of 2 and 4. The kids who spent less time with their parents spent up to an extra 30 minutes watching TV, playing video games or just being on the computer. Even though it’s just 30 minutes, it sure adds up through the week! It makes you want to spend more time with your kids, doesn’t it?

But even though spending more time with the family is a bonus, make sure it’s quality time. You can lead by example and get moving yourself! If you’re watching your figure, this will help you lose weight and keep it off, too. Get off the couch and get outside, doing activities that the whole family can enjoy. Here are some examples:

  • family sports night – play a favourite sport all together
  • go out for a walk, and take the dog, too
  • go cycling
  • go geocaching
