Cheek Fillers Toronto with Juvederm

The most common type of filler that is injected into your lips, cheeks, chin and more, is Juvéderm injectable filler. It is a hyaluronic acid-based product that is meant to add volume in order to make up for the natural plumpness that can diminish over time. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance that is already found in your body and it has the ability to hold up to 1000 times its weight in water – this makes it an ideal substance for dermal injections, especially cheeks.

What Are Cheek Fillers?

Dermal fillers or cheek fillers are designed to add natural-looking volume to your cheeks, fill with some plumpness, and/or even out the shape of your lips.  Did you know that the majority of visible aging signs can be traced back to loss of volume? As your facial tissues thin out, lines become more noticeable around the nose, mouth and cheeks, portraying a hollow look.

At Skin Vitality, cheek fillers or injectable treatments are some of the most-requested treatments. This coincides with the survey done by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, which released that approximately 2.7 million filler injections were performed in 2018 alone.

Although cheek injections are not as popular as the lip area, more and more patients are recognizing the powerful effects of enhancing this area. Cheekbones can represent up to 70% of facial beauty; they are the base of the facial architecture. Fillers added to the cheek area can restore a youthful looking appearance and provide natural looking facial contours.

Cheek areas include the nasolabial folds, the lower edge of the eye socket and the line sweeping up from the corner of the mouth, all the way to the ear canal. Any filler that is injected into these areas is considered Cheek Filler.

HOW LONG DO CHEEK FILLERS LAST?

How Long Do Cheek Fillers Last

This depends on a couple of factors, but most importantly, the type of cheek filler you are looking for. There are two types of dermal fillers available at Skin Vitality: Juvederm and Teosyal. Depending on the brand and type of product, some cheek fillers can last from 6 to 12 months, while others can last up to a couple of years. Speak to a member of our medical team to determine the filler that fits your price point and desired results.

Juvéderm® Voluma® XC is the only type of hyaluronic acid filler that is FDA and Health Canada-approved to instantly add volume to the cheek area. It has the potential to last up to two years with optimal treatment. If you’re looking to plump cheeks that have sunken over time, this injectable is a quick, convenient approach to skin care.

Cheek Fillers Before and After

Do Cheek Fillers Lift Your Face?

Cheek filler can balance out your face by defining your cheekbones, so they are more prominent. An advantage to this is that it gives you instant definition with sharper features and a youthful appearance to your face overall.

Many with rounder faces seek this treatment after failing to reach their desired results from makeup contouring and sucking in their cheeks for photos. Unfortunately, rounded, chipmunk-like cheeks are a stubborn problem—one that’s impossible to cover up with makeup, or erase with an Instagram filter. Thankfully, there are minimally-invasive ways to get rid of paunchy, sagging cheeks, without the scalpel, to dramatically re-sculpt and slim your features.

Voluma Cheek Filler

Juvéderm® Voluma is a Hyaluronic Acid-based filler designed for soft tissue, approved by Health Canada and the FDA. It has been available since 2005, but has recently become more popular in North America, available in 72 countries worldwide. The Voluma Cheek Filler is the most recent to be released by Juvéderm and it is created with additional lidocaine (responsible for the freezing effect) for added comfort during the treatment. This product, applied as a dermal cheek filler with local anesthetic, is also known as Juvéderm Voluma XC.

Face Lift Without Surgery

Voluma is different from the other fillers offered by Juvéderm because it is designed to address skin tightening in the mid-face area, without surgery. Historically, before the release of this filler, the loss of volume in the cheekbones was addressed with surgery. This poses serios health risks, additional medications, and downtime. The goal of the Voluma filler is to replace the lost volume in the midface to create a natural face lift, without surgery.

Cheek Injection Techniques

Skin Vitality’s cheek filler techniques are centred around the Greek Golden Ratio of Beauty Phi. This refers to the features located at the center of the face – the lips, eyes, and nose, otherwise known as “the triangle of beauty”. Cheek injections are amongst the most common treatments in order to enhance the lips and even out these three features.

Since the early Renaissance period, famous artists, such as Da Vinci, have used this Golden Ratio to sketch their paintings, such as the Monalisa. This triangle of beauty has been applied to facial aesthetics and has become a guideline for beauty treatments. We may be unaware of this unwritten rule, but we continue to subconsciously judge beauty based on facial symmetry and proportion.

The spike in popularity (312% increase in injectable treatments between 2000 and 2017) has pushed the demand for these services, causing medical spas and clinics to open their doors. Although this provides more options for the patient, not all cheek augmentation treatments are created equally. The severe complications that occur with dermal fillers are usually a result of unauthorized non-medical injectors. Therefore, it is extremely important for patients to seek reputable organizations that provide Health Canada approved products for injection.

Do Cheek Fillers Hurt?

This question depends on your pain tolerance, but ultimately, cheeks are one of the best areas to treat in terms of pain because of the product that is used for the treatment. Juvederm Voluma is designed with additional lidocaine (responsible for the freezing effect) for added comfort during the treatment. When this product is administered with the addition of local anesthetic, it is also known as Juvederm Voluma XC. This allows the treatment to cause less discomfort to provide the best possible experience for our patients.

You should definitely feel some pressure post-injection, but there should not be any intense pain. Other adjunctive measures can be added post-treatment to minimize any discomfort, such as applying an ice pack post-injection; this is to avoid any bruising or swelling.

Yes. Dermal cheek fillers are extremely useful for restoring your contours that create a slimmer appearance. The main way that we can achieve this is by lifting the cheeks using strategic injections. Focusing on the cheeks is the most effective way to slim the face without surgery. Creating slimmer facial features is a two-part process. First, the upper-face is shaped by adding very subtle width to the cheeks. Next, the mid-face contouring is performed to narrow the area under the cheeks. Some find that focusing on injections that “form” cheekbones is enough to create a much slimmer, more defined look.

Lip augmentation treatments are minimally invasive, quick, and produce immediate results. Although the treatment is relatively quick, lip injections can last anywhere from 6 months to a year and half, depending on the product used and how fast your body metabolizes it.

Results from Juvederm Voluma be seen right away, although full results may take a week or two. Your skin may appear softer, with a more rounded, youthful appearance.

Results from cheek filler treatments can be seen immediately. Even better? Patients are able to return to regular activities as soon as the treatment is over, with zero downtime.
