Do you love swimming but hate what chlorine does to your hair, making it dry, dull and frizzy? Here’s a quick fix for chlorinated hair:

Add a teaspoon of baking soda to your shampoo (preferably a clarifying shampoo) and mix well, then lather up. Wash your hair with this simple concoction a couple days a week and remember to follow with a good conditioner. This trick will bring the shine back to your tresses and remove the chlorine that has been absorbed by your hair, restoring your original hair colour. It works well for all hair colours, and particularly well on blonde. Baking soda may have a lightening effect on colour, though, so don’t use too much if this is a concern to you.

Hair can also be damaged by long bouts of sun exposure. While you’re lounging around the pool, don’t forget to wear a hat or better yet, stay out of the sun altogether and seek the refuge of a shady tree. Your hair, and skin, will thank you by remaining healthy and resilient!
