What to Expect During a Session
A medical professional from Skin Vitality’s team begins by cleansing the treatment area. A topical numbing agent may be applied for comfort. Once prepared, a handheld DermaPen device is moved gently across the skin. Needle length is selected based on concern and area, with shorter lengths for delicate regions and deeper settings for areas requiring collagen activation.
A typical session may take 15 minutes to a few hours depending on the size of the area. Sensations vary, and some individuals may feel mild scratching or warmth, especially near bony regions.
Aftercare and Recovery
Following treatment, most individuals resume normal activities the same day. Temporary redness, swelling, or tightness may occur for several days. Some may notice slight flaking as the skin renews. Ice or cooling products may be recommended, along with gentle skincare and sun protection. Mild pinpoint bleeding or bruising may occur and generally subsides shortly after treatment.
A series of sessions is often recommended, spaced several weeks apart. Full improvements may develop gradually over several months. Maintenance sessions may be considered depending on skin goals discussed during consultation. Individual results may vary.

FAQ's Customized DERMAPEN Skincare
Yes, microneedling is generally a safe and effective procedure that can improve the appearance of the skin. It can reduce wrinkles, diminish scarring, and tighten or rejuvenate loose or aging skin.
Healing from microneedling usually takes a mere 24 hours. However, it may take up to two to three days depending on the extent of the treatment. You can are free to return to work or school immediately after treatment and wear makeup 24 hours after your treatment.
You may need between one and six DermaPen microneedling treatments to achieve your desired results. If you’re trying to minimize your pores, you should only expect to need one treatment session. On the other hand, you may need two or three treatment sessions to erase moderate-to-severe wrinkles and folds.
Using ingredients like glycolic acid, retinol and vitamin C too soon after microneedling can irritate your skin and prolong the healing process. For this reason, it is best to wait two to three days after a microneedling session to start using products with these ingredients again.
Specific products, sun exposure, exfoliants, and strenuous activity may need to be minimized. Guidance is provided individually. As far as washing your face after microneedling goes, you should only use lukewarm water for the first 48 hours. On days two and three, it’s safe to cleanse with a gentle, non-exfoliating face wash.
One week following treatment: Most of our patients will notice improvements in their skin just one short week after treatment. Initial results usually include improved skin tone, a reduction in acne visibility, and improved skin texture.
Avoid IPL/Laser procedures, unprotected sun exposure, or sunburn for at least 2 weeks prior to your procedure. No waxing, depilatory creams, or electrolysis to the area being treated for 5-7 days prior. Do not shave the day of the procedure to avoid skin irritation.
For at least 2 hours post treatment, do NOT use any Alpha Hydroxy Acids, Beta Hydroxy Acid, Retinol (Vitamin A), Vitamin C (in a low pH formula) or anything perceived as ‘active’ skincare. Avoid intentional and direct sunlight for 24 hours. No tanning beds. Do not go swimming for at least 24 hours post-‐treatment.
