Do Cheek Fillers Hurt?
This question depends on your pain tolerance, but ultimately, cheeks are one of the best areas to treat in terms of pain because of the product that is used for the treatment. Juvederm Voluma is designed with additional lidocaine (responsible for the freezing effect) for added comfort during the treatment. When this product is administered with the addition of local anesthetic, it is also known as Juvederm Voluma XC. This allows the treatment to cause less discomfort to provide the best possible experience for our patients.
You should definitely feel some pressure post-injection, but there should not be any intense pain. Other adjunctive measures can be added post-treatment to minimize any discomfort, such as applying an ice pack post-injection; this is to avoid any bruising or swelling.
