Botox and Glabellar Lines

Toronto Botox is a Health Canada approved treatment for glabellar lines, those vertical creases right between your eyebrows, situated above your nose.

How do glabellar lines develop?

The muscles that move the eyebrows and forehead are located in the eyebrow area. These muscles are known as corrugator supercilii, and imagine how often we use them, along with the orbicularis oculi (the muscles that we use to open and close our eyes) – frowning, worry, anger and sadness all require the action of these muscles. We use the corrugator supercilii day after day, and with time, it does take an effect on the skin in the area. The skin creases every time these muscles are engaged, and combined with the deterioration of collagen and elastin brought about by age, permanent wrinkles develop. These permanent creases are called glabellar lines.

The most effective way to get rid of glabellar lines is to partially relax a part of the corrugator supercilii with Botox. It is imperative that the right part is targeted with Botox, because if it is done incorrectly, the results can be very unnatural and frozen. Don’t rely on an amateur to perform your Botox procedure.
