Can I still make facial expressions after treatment?
Yes. BOTOX won't change your facial appearance radically. You'll still be able to frown or look surprised, just without wrinkles and creases between your brows.

What is BOTOX exactly?
BOTOX is a proprietary form of purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium. A nonsurgical treatment, it is administered by a licensed medical professional to temporarily diminish the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in patients 18 to 65 years old. During treatment at Skin Vitality, our BOTOX patients receive very low doses of the product via a few tiny injections directly into the muscles that cause those stubborn lines. This takes about 10 minutes and no recovery time is needed. Within days, you may see an improvement that can last up to 4 months. Results may vary.

How does it work?
Muscle activity is what creates those moderate to severe frown lines between your brows over time. BOTOX is injected directly into the muscles between your brows and works by blocking the transmission of nerve impulses to the injected muscles. Muscle activity reduces, which in turn allows those lines to smooth out.

When will I see results from a BOTOX treatment?
Within 5 to 7 days, you may see a marked improvement in the moderate to severe frown lines between your brows. Lines continue to improve for up to a month.

How long do the results from BOTOX last?
Generally, results can last up to 4 months. Discontinuing treatment will make frown lines look the same as they did prior to treatment.

Does it hurt?
Any discomfort patients experience is typically described as minimal and brief. It's common for patients at Skin Vitality to experience very minimal or no downtime.

Will my facial expressions look natural after treatment?
You'll see the results, but it won't radically change your facial appearance or make you look as if you "had work done." There's simply a reduction in the muscle activity that causes frown lines between the brows, so you can still frown or look surprised even though you won't have wrinkles and creases between your brows.

What happens to my frown lines if I stop getting BOTOX?
If you stop treatments, the moderate to severe frown lines between your brows will gradually return and look like they did before treatment.

Is BOTOX affordable?
According to a survey performed for the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, BOTOX is considered a low-entry-cost facial aesthetic procedure in the US. Like other treatments that target your appearance, such as hair coloring, teeth whitening, and chemical peels, the cost must be weighed relative to your expectations.

	Botox Recovery After a Botox Cosmetic® treatment, you can generally go right back to your normal activities. Your physician will, however, advise you not to massage or rub the treated area and to be especially gentle with it for 24 hours after your treatment. Some also recommend avoiding vigorous activity for that same day and to try and exercise or move the treated muscle groups for 20 to 30 minutes after the treatment. However, it’s important to get your physician’s specific recommendation. As very small needles are used, there is only minimal discomfort and no down-time. An assessment of the results is made after 10 days to determine if more BOTOX® treatment is necessary.
