I have recently discover coconut oil at first it was through my cook, as I had bought a new cook book that mentioned it a lot in the recipes so I wondered out and got some from my supermarket in the organic section. I found cooking with it no different then olive oil, and it did not add an over powering flavor.  On doing more research I found there is quite a lot more to coconut oil then I previously thought.

  • Controls weight, it contains short and medium-chain fatty acids that help in taking off excessive weight.
  • Eases digestion, if you suffer from poor digestion or tummy bloating try adding coconut oil to your diet.
  • A recent study by the Garvan Institute of Medical Research found that coconut oil protects against insulin resistance, reducing the risk of type 2 diabetes.
  • Coconut oil is made up of healthy fats lauric acid, caprylic acid and capric acid which contain antifungal, antibacterial, antiviral prosperities to boost the immune system.
  • Slows fine lines, it keeps the skin’s connective tissues strong, which prevents sagging and wrinkles. Apply directly to your skin to soften the appearance of fine lines or use on your face and body for a healthy glow.
  • Hair care, Coconut oil is one of the best natural nutrition for hair. It helps in healthy growth of hair providing them a shiny complexion. It is effective in reducing the protein loss for damaged and undamaged hair.
  • Coconut oil raises the level of good cholesterol (HDL) in the blood which in turn lowers bad cholesterol and is beneficial to heart health. However it is still a saturated fat so everything in moderation.
  • 3 in 1 cleanser, makeup remover, moisturizer.

It has been discussed on many TV shows such as Doctor OZ Show, Rachael Ray and other media outlets. As with any product less is more, the recommended allowance is one to two tbsp in a day in your diet. Give it a try.
